¿Que significa una piel renovada? (falt apregunta)
Skin and menopause: The skin is a natural barrier against different kinds of damage produced by external factors such as tobacco smoke, environmental pollution, ultraviolet radiation, and internal factors such as daily stress, inadequate diets, oxidizing agents and hormonal disorders.
During menopause, the loss of estrogen along with the natural ageing process of the skin has an impact on the skin.
Skin renewal
Skin renewal is a continually occurring process in which new cells reproduce while others die. The new cells are genetically identical to the old ones in order to replace them functionally and physiologically. As the superficial skin cells wear out and die, they are replaced by new cells that grow from the inner layers of the skin.
This process, which in youth usually lasts between 2 to 4 weeks, slows down over the years, becoming more noticeable during the menopausal period.
How to help improve the skin during menopause
There are compounds that contribute to the improvement of the skin so as to make it look smoother, luminous and renewed.
Scientific studies show that some soy extracts and their isoflavones, mainly genistein, act on the structure of the skin by increasing its firmness and density while inducing the production of melanin. Likewise, they can also prevent the after-effects of sun exposure and have an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect. They also prevent the loss of collagen subsequent to estrogen deprivation during the climacteric period in women.
These soy extracts also stimulate the production of hyaluronic acid and fibroblasts (a type of cell that contributes to the formation of connective tissue); they are a natural antioxidant, thus helping the skin in the struggle against free radicals and the harmful effects of oxygen.
